How To Create A New Training Log


When you’re out in the field or back at the station, the last thing you want is to struggle with paperwork. But when you’re training your K9 team, documenting every detail is crucial. Whether it’s tracking how your K9 performed in a specific exercise, noting the weather conditions, or recording any issues that cropped up, you need a system that makes this easy and efficient.


Dogteampro’s training log feature is designed for simplicity, making it easy to capture and organize all the important details from your K9 training sessions. Here's how it helps:

Customizable Fields

Note: As an administrator you can customize the following fields.


General Information Section

  1. Team: Whether you’re working alone or with multiple teams, easily select your K9 team(s) to start documenting your session.
  2. Session Name: Give your session a quick name so you can easily reference it later.
  3. Date: Capture the date of your session automatically or manually.
  4. Duration: Record how long your session lasted with just a few clicks.
  5. Add Trainer: Reference a specific trainer in your agency. The approval process will be limited to the user selected in this field.
  6. Add Tags: Add tags to provide an additional layer of segmentation. Working with another agency? You can create a tag and reference these training logs with it.


Exercise Section

  1. Exercise Type: Select the exercise type from the dropdown. Fully customizable, the app allows you to configure exercise types, including adding additional odors or training items if required.
  2. Location: Add the address of the location where the training was conducted.
  3. Exercise Notes: Add general information about the exercise. If you’re adding multiple K9 teams to a single log, every user will receive a copy of these notes.
  4. Distractor: Keep track of single or multiple distractors during training.
  5. Attachments: Upload files from your computer or mobile device.
  6. Maps: Attach maps that are relevant to the training. This is perfect for keeping everything in one place.
  7. Add New Exercise: Add additional exercises to your training log.


Results Section

  1. Exercise Results: Log the outcome of each exercise. Whether it was a hit or a miss, it’s easy to record.
  2. Surface Types: Specify the types of surfaces your K9 worked on. (e.g. grass, concrete, or something else.)
  3. Weather: Automatically capture the weather conditions or manually adjust them to reflect the exact training environment.
  4. Start & End Times: Track when your session started and ended. If needed, you can also capture the weather at these specific times by changing the "Start Time" field.
  5. Exercise Result Notes: Add any additional information about how your K9 performed.
  6. Issues: Easily note down any problems that might have affected the training results.


Additional Options

  1. Delete Log: If you need to remove a log, you can do so with a single click.
  2. Export Log: Need a hard copy? Export a PDF of the training log in seconds.
  3. Create a Copy: Duplicate your training information for future sessions, excluding the exercise results, to save time.
  4. Submit Log/Complete: Ready for review? Submit your log and move forward in the approval process.
  5. Log History: The "Log History" feature allows you to track past saves and notes for rejected or completed logs.
